While stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Ben would spend much of his free time fly fishing the crystal clear waters of the Rockies with his most beloved dog, Colby. At the same time, John was approaching retirement from teaching in Massachussetts and delving into a hobby of lure making.
During one father-son reunion out west, the idea of The Lonely Angler was born. Nearly a decade later, the two have hand-crafted and sold thousands of lures. The process is simple. The wooden lures are individually weighted by John and painted by Ben. They are all hand-assembled - including the resin lures - with the highest quality components, using holographic eyes and VMC hooks exclusively.
Ben now lives in Maryland and spends most of his time fishing the Chesapeake Bay area. John still lives in Massachussetts.
